A Simple Method of Dealing with Destructive Lesions of the Lids

A MAJyE Hindu patient was admitted to hospital wit'h a large crescentic slough involving the whole of the lower lid except a narrow rim close to the lashes. The limit of the damaged area lay over the inferior border of the malar bone. A smaller crescentic area of the upper lid was gangrenous. The damage had been produced by irritant remedies applied over the eye as a plaster. This method of treatment is not infrequently adopted by village quacks for acute conjunctivitis and other infections of the eye, and the practitioner may find the results very difficult to deal with. In spite of the greatest care, extensive ectropion is liable to set in rapidly, followed by exposure ulcer of the
